Sneaking Into BOWFIN HEAVEN! (How to catch bowfin)

Preface: this vid was super short notice and we only had one camera with us, so that's why a lot of the action isn't on camera. But regardless, this place was UNREAL. Our buddy James got us on one of the most unique and ridiculous fisheries we've ever seen. With water falling out of an old pond/swamp, the baitfish and HUGE bowfin (and bass) were swimming around in inches of water, eager to bust on anything that swam by.
Watch as we go to work targeting them on spinnerbaits. We also share a few tips and tricks on how to catch bowfin (watch until the end).
Last note, bowfin are often mistaken as snakeheads or otherwise thought of as trash fish by many anglers. We need to learn to appreciate these fish more as they've lived in North America for millions of years and have changed little since the dinosaurs. Bowfin is definitely not invasive. They are living, native fossils! They also put up a great fight and should be respected as a premier sport fish, just like bass, pike, muskie, etc. So think twice before tossing one of these on the bank and count your blessings when you accidentally catch a bowfin while bass fishing!
